…what will I watch on Saturday nights now!

Well after my last post my 'feeling lousy' developed into full blown 'feeling rotten'. By the end of the day I was not well at all and suffering from a killer sore throat, shakes, fever, body pains including an extremely sore back, numb legs, sore teeth and just about everything hurting in one way or another. So I spent the next couple of days in bed until the fever broke, then it transformed into a type of cold with a blocked up head, sore neck and shoulders, bad cough and generally feeling 'blah'. Right now I still have the cough, sore neck and am just feeling run down. It sure is taking its time to go away :(

So after thirteen weeks we have come to the end of the first series of new Doctor Who, what a great show its been. The public seem to have taken it to its heart and families up and down Britain have been sitting down together to watch the show. Everyone I've spoken to loves the show and even the people who have shrugged their shoulders before it came on air have taken a liking to it. I think the writing in general has been excellent, although I've found a second watching of shows to be more helpful sometimes when it comes to plot and wise cracking jokes. The actors have been great, Christopher Eccleston took a great risk taking on the part of the Doctor but has made the part his own and its a great shame to have seen him 'regenerate' last night, what will David Tennant be like? Well I guess we will find out this Christmas with the festive special! Billie Piper has been wonderful and its a credit that she will be on for the whole of the next series. And Doctor kissing John Barrowman has added yet another angle to the Tardis crew, plus all the other character actors have been splendid! In short I don't think that any Doctor Who fans can have many complaints about the new series (although I'm sure there are a few). Well done, thank you for making more!

…here be Dragons!

Here be Dragons!, originally uploaded by Graeme Neil Reid.

I'm feeling lousy today, seems like I've finally fallen for some kind of sore throat lurgy thingy. Its not so bad that I can't function I just feel drained and tired, ah well, never mind.

Fed up of sorting my machine out as well, I upgraded to OS 10.4, otherwise known as Tiger. Its a nice system and not really a pain in itself but all the third party software that I use needs upgrading or replaced. Or worse still the developers haven't gotten around to sorting out the compatibility with the new OS, pain in the arse! The system took half an hour to install but I reckon I'm into four hours now sorting out all the other stuff, and to really annoy me my typeface management application (Extensis Suitcase) completely fails to work in the new OS. So I've had to order the latest version of the software which still doesn't work with all the software I have, poor show :(

I've finished the last Interzone piece for the story "Birdsong at Eventide", and I've posted up the pencils of yet another part of the finished picture. First time I can remember drawing a dragon in my life. I'd like to get into the whole SF and Role Playing market with my illustrations so you'd think I would have drawn a bit more of dragons, goblins and ogres but nope. I guess this might be the start.

Or to put it another way, maybe not for the next two months or so. Master Reid is just around the corner, with just over three weeks to go until D-Day the arrival of my Son will no doubt slow down work or completely stop it. Still it'll be a pleasure not working for such a great reason. We seem to be fairly well prepared and Catriona has finished work now and is quickly swelling to bursting point. I've been pretty concerned about the whole giving birth process but I think I've reached a point where its not going to freak me out in a bad way, just a good way :)
