…and still on holiday…

Cover Sketch, originally uploaded by Graeme Neil Reid.

For those with an interest (anybody?) here is the initial sketches I did for the EFA Christmas cover. I usually figure out what I'm going to do and lock it away in my head, stored somewhere in the back. But sometimes you need to give a choice to your client, so you draw these little sketches. And they really do need to be something quite simple, just enough to give an impression of where your going.

Obviously they went for the scene around the Christmas table but the second one was based on the same picture but seen from another room. So you would be looking in on the festivities. On the walls in this other room would be framed pictures of other Eagle characters, like a family wall of portraits. I think it would have been fun to do this one and it might be something I come back to at some point.

…I'm still on my holidays!

A Happy New Year to you all!

I've had an excellent Christmas and holiday and I'm seeing off the last day before heading back to work and dreary drudge that is January. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Santa left you something nice?

Back on the 7th of November I mentioned doing the cover for the horror issue of Eagle Flies Again. Well as often happens one thing led to another and the magazine was still awaiting items for the issue by the time Halloween had been and passed, so they have delayed the Scream/horror issue until this October. So with this cancellation they asked me if I wanted to have a crack at the Christmas issue cover, and who could say no. My chance to draw some classic 80s Eagle characters sharing in the Christmas season! So many to choose from I had trouble making up my mind, but it was a pleasure.
