So its all done, finished it yesterday. Had mixed results with my new brush pen, I liked everything about it, handled well, line was good and I felt like I took about half the time it normally would with a brush and ink. But unfortunately the ink seemed to bleed slightly into the paper, now this may well be something to do with the paper but its exactly the same paper I use for my other inking (very smooth) and that doesn't happen. To be clear what happens is that on some lines the edges bleed ever so slightly once they have been laid down so it can give a fuzzy edge. So I need a bit more experimenting on this one.
As for the picture itself if your interested in giving your money to Childline once the book is out, you can bid on this piece and many others. I'll let you know as and when…

…Hulk smush Collina!

…and straight away the Pencils!
Was really into drawing the Hulk that I just got going and did the pencils for the piece straight away today. Collina will be in a black strip of course. Decided to put the Hulk into an actual football strip as well so that its obvious he's being carded during a (superheroes?) game. Hate to see what he actually did to deserve getting red carded but I guess the other player is strechered off! Happy with how this looks and for a change I've left off with a background as the two figures seem to work well on there on. Going to try and ink this this weekend and will be using that new pen I mentioned in previous posts (ooh exciting). I've been inking since I bought it but have held off using it until now…
J1P sketch time.
The theme for this years J1P book is the World Cup but I enjoyed last years 'versus' theme so much I thought I'd do both. So my idea was to do the Italian ref Pierluigi Collina red carding the Hulk. So sketch wise I pretty much knew how I wanted this to look from the start so not really much need to go crazy on the sketch. Hence the rubbish shetch above :) First time I've ever drawn the Hulk though, well apart from when I was seven or sum such age!

…penny for the guy!
Went to see V for vendetta last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've heard so many mixed reports about the film that I decided to go with an open view towards this version of a comic book classic. Couple of things niggled at me while watching it but not enough for me to condemn the film as a whole and if you haven't read the comic book or know anything about it then I'd guess it would hold up as a pretty good action/fantasy film. I haven't read the comic book for about eight or nine years but I reckon I'll be dipping back into it soon to see David Lloyd's lovely work (oh and Mr Moore's as well of course).
The film reminded me of a drawing I did way back in 1993 that I thought you might like to see. A friend at work bought the piece based on the fact she thought the characters looked funny and didn't know anything about the book.
Been a bit quiet recently but I've been hard at work on an 11 page comic story that I'll tell you about soon(ish). And I'll also be starting amazingly soon my piece for the Just One Page charity book that this year has the World Cup as a theme, so I'll post up my sketches and progress on that as I go along (honest).
